What Is Required
Alaska distinguishes independent parent-directed home education from district correspondence programs. For a child educated at home by a parent or legal guardian under the statutory exemption, the state does not prescribe an annual homeschool notice, curriculum, teacher credential, or homeschool test. The companion documents the chosen independent or district-affiliated pathway and gives the parent an annual plan, attendance/work samples, progress records, and withdrawal checklist.
Tier 3 State Companion: Editable, parent-reviewable 36-week Curriculum Summary Draft with student and grade/year details, parent and instructor fields, four nine-week review/report dates, and subject-by-subject scope, sequence, objectives, resources, methods, and progress evidence. It also adds independent parent-directed versus district correspondence pathway, plus any withdrawal record. Parent review and submission remain required.
